摘要:本文采用会话完形测试和访谈法;考察了中国学生英、汉恭维应答策略的特点并将之与Chen Rong(1993)所研究的中、美学生汉、英应答策略进行对比分析以考查中国学生应答策略之不同。研究发现:学生应对英、汉恭维的首选策略均为欣然"接受"而非"拒绝;"学生的汉语应答表达丰富;策略类型多样且分布相对均匀;但其英文应答模式单一;存在过度使用"接受"策略的现象;而且在其英语语言表达方面呈现出中介语变化的特征。据此;本文从跨文化交际和英语教学的视角对研究结论进行了阐释并提出了今后的研究方向。
Through discourse completion test and interview,this paper empirically studies the strategies applied by Chinese students in their English and Chinese compliment responses and explores the differences and similarities of the responding strategies between the Chinese students of this study and the Chinese,American students in Chen Rong’s 1993 study.The results show that the Chinese students in this study took as their top priority the strategy of readily accepting rather than refusing compliments in either English or Chinese responses.What’s more,their Chinese responses were rich in contents and diverse in responding strategies and even in distribution,whereas their English responses are monotonous in content and form.In particular,the Chinese students tended to overuse the accepting strategy in their English responses and there were features of interlanguage variation in their English language use.According to the findings of the research,the authors offer some explanations from the perspectives of cross-cultural communication and English language teaching and propose new research questions which may shed light on language education and further studies of this field.
