This paper points out that in translation studies, the excessive concern over exterior factors gives rise to the pan-cultural tendency, which leads to decentralization and superficiality.Starting with the analysis on the background and reasons of this tendency, the author reveals the impact of "cultural identity",a key concept in translation,on the subjects’ attitudes towards alien culture, and explores the arrogation among different subjects. The author argues that researchers in translation circle should try to combine interior factors and exterior ones,so as to overcome the pan-cultural tendency and explore inner meanings of the text.
