摘要:本文基于自建语料库;并以中国英语学习者语料库(SWECCL 2.0)和英语本族语者语料库(LOCNESS)为参照;对比研究工科院校学生英语议论文写作中转折连接词的使用情况。研究发现;工科院校学生英语转折连接词的使用具有中国英语学习者的普遍特点;但与英语本族语者相比;存在多用、少用、语体混淆、机械套用等问题。基于研究结果;文章最后对大学英语教学提出了相应建议。
This study examines the use of adversative conjunctions in English argumentative essays by a group of Chinese engineering majors.It collects data from a self-compiled corpus,and takes a Chinese learner corpus(SWECCL 2.0) and a native English speaker corpus(LOCNESS) as reference corpora.The study reveals that in the use of adversative conjunctions,the engineering majors have much in common with other college English learners in China. But different from native speakers,the engineering majors tend to overuse or underuse adversative conjunctions.Besides, they are more likely to misuse some adversative conjunctions,with no attention to their style nuances.In the end,the study presents some implications for college English teaching.
