摘要:本世纪我国大学英语有两股改革潮流;一股是教育部主导的、规模空前的大学英语改革;这场改革虽然取得了一定的成果;但还是走以提高听、说、读、写等语言技能为中心的语言驱动的路子;另一股则是高校双语教学的引入和ESP的回归;它走的是内容驱动的语言教学路子。作者认为;错误的定位导致大学英语陷入为学习语言而学习语言的泥潭;出路是采用依托式教学模式;处理好语言教学和内容教学的二者关系。
This century has witnessed two reform currents on the scene of College English teaching.One of them is represented by the unprecedentedly large-scale College English reform guided by the Ministry of Education.Although this reform is credited with some results,it still is the traditional language-driven approach to listening,speaking,reading and writing skills.The other reform current is embodied by a content-driven approach as manifested in bilingual instruction and the resurgence of ESP in universities and colleges.In the authors’ view,College English has been wrongly defined,hence the quagmire of learning language for language’s own sake.The only way of that lies in embracing the content-based instruction model(CBI) so as to handle properly the relationship between language and content in teaching and learning.
